Media Preview is a simple application that you only need to run once. When you first launch the app, you are greeted with a list of video formats for you to choose from. The selected video formats will now show a still frame from the video. This helps when browsing in thumbnail mode as it makes it easy to differentiate files.
Beyond this, Media Preview provides a testing section into which users can drag and drop media files to test the results in Windows Explorer. Media Preview is truly simple and easy to use but it would have been nice to have have a live preview of each media file like with Mac OS X's "Quick Look" feature.
Overall, Media Preview does what it says and gives you a still shot from the video file for formats not supported by Windows Media Player. It does nothing more and nothing less.
- Hotfix release: A user reported that the live testing feature made the configuration tool to crash on 32-bit editions of Windows Vista+. Well, not anymore :)
